For seventy-five years, our 1920’s brick storefront on the corner of Brodhead and Crescent was the local hardware store. For another decade or so, it was a local emporium for vintage clothing and furnishings. History and memory linger between the beautiful wood floorboards and the original tin ceilings. This has been a community gathering spot for a very long time, and we hope to continue that tradition.
After we purchased the building in late 2013, an amazing clearing and cleaning and painting and renovating marathon ensued. Work parties materialized (we are blessed with a large and helpful circus family), a basement chock-a-block full of hardware and castaway vintage treasures was cleared, and we moved in with our eclectic collection of circus gear. Photos of our renovation adventures are posted in this album. We love our beautiful space, and we wish to share it, as a community gathering space filled with experiential learning, artistic exploration and positive social interaction. So far, so good!
