Fayettenam invokes the echoes of ancestors to understand the fragmented realities that created the conditions of our nation. It explores American transience/American Conscience, water, early settlement, ghosts in the mountain and johnny appleseed. Performed by Carpetbag Brigade director, Jay Ruby, “Fayettenam” brings the past to the the present so we can reflect on the wounds and wisdom we have inherited from the actions of those who came before us. Using text, song and action this piece of physical theater provokes one to think about the land they are walking on and what may be under the layers of its history.
