Get down on the floor and let your child teach you how to play again. Communicate through your bodies in the language you both know best—the language of movement. We will laugh and play our way to deeper connection with one another. Both children and adults will develop new trust in themselves and in one another that comes from the joy of playing and exploring together in movement.
Children develop confidence in their own strength, balance and coordination while meeting a whole new playful side of their parents. Parents learn to trust their own curiosity and creativity while learning new games to play with their children.
- Take a break from your habitual roles as parent and child
- Reconnect with yourself and your young beloved through your body
- Enjoy one another in the spirit of play and curiosity
- Remember your native language—movement.
- Relax into partnership with your child
Our exploration is based on contact improvisation and Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies (LBMS). We welcome beginning to advanced practitioners of each (as well as those who have never heard of either).
Open to all families of any shape or size, so long as they include at least one small human (2-4 years old) and at least one caring adult family member who comes dressed and ready to join in the fun (aunts, uncles, grandparents and special friends all welcome). Younger and older siblings also welcome (will be helpful if they bring an additional adult family member to dance with them).
Our exploration in movement and sound will be co-facilitated by Hilary and Zeddie Bryan (Hilary’s 2-year-old movement guru). Hilary has been practicing Contact Improvisation since 1991 and LBMS since 1997. Zeddie has been practicing and teaching developmental movement since 2016 (plus some great dances in utero during 2015).
